Features
Explore HypaValley capabilities and learn how to get started.
Preparation
- To use HypaValley, you’ll need an account at alpaca.markets for free.
- You’ll also need to sign up or log in to HypaValley.
- New accounts start in demo mode, so you can explore and build without real credentials. Once your Alpaca account is ready, connect it via OAuth in Settings and you’re set to explore the dashboard, orders, and builders.
Get Started
Watch: HypaValley introduction
A simple path to your first run:
-
Go to Settings → Alpaca Connection and connect Paper or Live via OAuth.
-
Open the Dashboard to confirm your balance, positions, and timeframe sync (Today → All).
-
Visit Orders to review recent fills and ensure the period setting matches the dashboard.
-
In Algorithm → Block Builder, the fast path is Generate from Prompt: describe your own symbol, conditions, order size, exits, and schedule in plain English, and the builder creates configurable blocks for you to review. Simulate and paper test the result before considering live use. Prefer to build by hand? Drag in a Data: Ticker, indicators (SMA/EMA/RSI/MACD), and a condition (e.g., cross), adding Utility blocks like Wait Market Open/Fill if needed. New here? Starter templates → “Load a beginner template” gives you a generic working example to start from.
-
Want to fine-tune the logic by hand? Switch the Builder dropdown to Code Builder and click Sync from Blocks to bring your blocks across as editable code, then run in HypaValley using your connected Alpaca account.
-
Click Run Test to backtest your strategy on historical data and sanity-check the logic before you trade it.
-
Start in paper mode, validate logs, then switch to live when you’re confident. Note: live trading requires a paid plan (Pro or Founders Club)—freemium accounts can paper trade for free.
Tip: If you reset a paper account at Alpaca, HypaValley will trim related history to stay clean.
